Tributes have poured in following the death of a woman from Carlow who died at 103 years old.
Dorothy Ansell (née Irwin) was from Constable Hill, Hacketstown in Carlow and formerly of Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh and passed away on 19th October 2025 peacefully after a short illness at St. Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny surrounded by her loving family.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Arthur John, sisters Vera and Phyllis and brother Ernest. Sadly missed by her daughters Muriel, Marjorie, Rosemary and Helen, sons Noel, David and Ken, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law and partners, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Dorothy, with one mourner writing,
"Deepest sympathy to Rosemary and all the extended Ansell family on the passing of Dorothy. A lovely, gentle woman who was blessed with a great long life. Thinking of you all at this sad and difficult time".

Another message said, "Sincere condolences to Noel and Bid. David, Ken and all the Ansell Family on the passing of your wonderful Mother. She was such an inspiration to us all at her wonderful age and she was always so happy and smiling and full of chat. May Dorothy's gentle soul rest in peace".
