Three Carlow schools receive funding for upgrades and extensions to 'improve learning environments'
Three Carlow schools have been granted funding for upgrades or extensions that will "directly improve learning environments."
The National Development Plan Sectoral Investment Plan for Education and Youth has been published.
The €7.55 billion plan will fund the delivery of new school buildings, extensions, modular accommodation, and critical upgrades between now and 2030.
There is a strong emphasis on special education provision and the modernisation of existing school facilities.

The three schools in Carlow to receive funding are Presentation De La Salle Bagenalstown, Bennekerry National School, and St Laserian’s Special School.
Presentation De La Salle Bagenalstown's funding will be used to build a "large-scale" new building.
Bennekerry National School will be putting an extension on the school and so will St. Laserians Special School but in the form of a modular building.
Fianna Fáil TD for Carlow-Kilkenny, John McGuinness says the confirmation of these projects represents "real and tangible progress for pupils, parents, teachers, and school communities who have waited far too long for these essential structural improvements."

"These projects are not abstract commitments – they are bricks and mortar additions that will directly improve learning environments, address capacity pressures and support children with special educational needs," he said.
More than €50 million has been invested in Carlow since 2020, resulting in upgrades to 24 schools.
Five projects are currently under construction, with three more progressing in 2026 and 2027.
Since 2020, 32 special classes have been established, including five approved for September 2026.
