'We're hiring!'- Carlow District Credit Union hiring full-time officer position

Carlow District Credit Union Limited are now hiring a member services officer within the Lending Department.

Financial services experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided and the successful candidate will ideally be available for immediate start.
The closing date to apply for the role is 11th of February 2026 and it is a 12 month contract of 37 hours per week.

Job Overview

As a Member Service Advisor within the Lending Department , you are accountable to the Credit Manager of the Credit Union for conducting a range of administrative and operational activities that contribute to the effective running of the credit union and provide quality services to our members. 

As a member of the Lending Team, the Member Services Officer position will form part of a highly motivated, multi skilled Credit Team who will be responsible  for providing a first class service to members on all types of loan requests received in any office in person, by phone or online. 

Qualifications

  • Financial services experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Excellent keyboard skills and proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook. 
  • APA in loans. It is a requirement to undertake the exams to achieve this designation. The Credit Union will enrol you in the required course’s.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing quality service to members by telephone, post, email and face-to-face at the credit union offices.
  • Conduct loan interviews and obtain the necessary financial information in order to support the members loan application.
  • Processing loan enquiries and applications via our online platforms and preparing files for underwriting.
  • Be a key member of the Lending Team and collaborate with colleagues to deliver seamless, integrated and excellent service.
  • Perform a range of supportive duties including filing and administrative tasks.
  • Undertake relevant training where required.
  • Deal with queries and respond to requests for information from members in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the Credit Manager.
  • Work always in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner.
  • Preserve confidentiality, and Data Protection principles and adhere to the rules, policies and procedures of the credit union and other legislation.

Key Requirements:

  • Some experience working in a customer service environment involving interaction with customers.
  • Strong customer focus and proven commitment to customer excellence standards.
  • Strong administration and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Experience in face to face, online and telephony customer service.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
