A business in Carlow has raised over €17,000 for a charity that helps families of sick children find accommodation close to the hospital their child is being treated at.

McDonald’s Carlow has been recognised for its fundraising efforts during the 2025 Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Santa Hat campaign.

The McDonald's raised the second-highest amount of all 96 McDonald’s restaurants across Ireland.

The Drive-Thru restaurant sold 8,692 Santa Hats during the festive period, raising over €17,000.

"I’m incredibly proud of our team in Carlow and would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all our customers who generously supported the Santa Hat campaign," John Byrne, Franchisee at McDonald’s Carlow, said.

Across Ireland, McDonald’s restaurants sold an impressive 82,334 Santa Hats, collectively raising over €160,000 for RMHC Ireland as part of the 2025 Christmas fundraising campaign.

All money raised through the campaign goes directly to RMHC Ireland, supporting its work to provide accommodation and a caring, supportive environment for families whose children are seriously ill and are hospitalised or undergoing medical treatment at Children’s Health Ireland, Crumlin.

This year’s fundraising efforts will also help support the newly constructed 52-room Ronald McDonald House at the Children’s Hospital in Dublin, enabling RMHC Ireland to care for even more families when they need it most.

This year holds special significance for RMHC Ireland as we prepare to open our new 52-bedroom Ronald McDonald House later in 2026, marking a major milestone in our mission to provide even greater support to families when they need it most.
