Tattoo artist from Carlow in critical condition in hospital amid GoFundMe appeal

People in Carlow have come together to raise an incredible amount of money in less than 24 hours for a local father of three who is in an induced coma in hospital.

Stuart Anderson is currently in ICU in ST James hospital in critical care after suffering three heart attacks and emergency heart surgery.

He still needs more heart surgeries, according to a GoFundMe, and "has a long road ahead of him".

"Stuart is the most kind hearted person and the first to help anyone he can, he is also very proud man and deep down I know he wouldn't like this but while we have weeks/ months ahead of us Stuart has worked so hard to have his tattoo studio in Carlow I can't sit back and let him loose it.

"His partner Siobhra hasn't left Stuart's side and can't until we are out of critical stages meaning she can't work, the studio rents still needs paying, rent and bills are still coming and they have three kids also".

The GoFundMe has called for help for Stuart's partner who travels up and down every day to the hospital, which is two hours away. Donations will also go towards medical expenses and keeping the tattoo studio opened in Carlow.

"As Stuart's big brother I want to help them navigate through this extremely difficult time without the added stress of finances.

"We would also like to say thanks to all the prayers and candles people have been lighting for Stuart and our family we ask you to continue to do so as he is fighting this so hard.

"All donations made from this go fund me will go directly to Siobhra and Stuart's family to help keep his tattoo studio open and help with any bills and additional expenses through this difficult time. Thank you all for your help and kind words we do appreciate it".

TD Orla Donohoe shared this GoFundMe to her social media and said: "I met Stuart recently when I highlighted his tattoo and art business "Forever Young Arts" and to say this man is a gentleman is an understatement!!

"I was so impressed by how passionate Stuart was over his business and the respect he had for his clients! I am so terribly sorry to hear this news and if anyone can help at all the donate link is below. Stuart Anderson is facing an incredibly tough time after multiple heart attacks and emergency surgery. 

“His family needs support to keep his tattoo studio afloat and cover essential expenses".

In just one day, the GoFundMe has already had 179 donations with a total of €7,656 raised.
