Carlow County Council have responded to claims that they are billing a Carlow man on disability almost €2,000 for removal of his caravan.

Carlow Live put it to Carlow County Council that Bernard Reilly is claiming he's been asked to pay €1,976 after Carlow County Council seized his caravan last week.

Lorraine Doyle, who lived in the estate beside her brother's caravan, claims the local authority are asking him to pay for the removal and the "whole operation".

In a statement, the Council said: "In accordance with The Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, a caravan which was parked on open public space in an unauthorised manner at New Oak Estate, Carlow was removed on Wednesday, July 25 2018 following an interagency collaboration."
