An existing stop in Carlow at the Bus Park
Plans for a regular bus service in Carlow Town are now at "tender stage", Director of Services at Carlow County Council, Dan McInerney, has said.
He was speaking at a joint meeting this month of Carlow and Laois County Councils and he said the National Transport Authority are now in the process of "getting a company to run the bus service" and he expected the scheme to be finalised by early 2019.
Cllr Ken Murnane said that Carlow had 90% of the routes agreed with the NTA but criticised councillors on the Laois side as the routes outlined across the border only covered the Talbot Hotel to Graig Bridge.
"I'm looking for all housing estates in Graig to be covered. That's all, that's the only thing," he added.
Management for Laois County Council said they had been engaging with the NTA.
