An existing stop in Carlow at the Bus Park
The bus service in Carlow Town is now expected to be up and running by the "first half of 2019".
Dan McInerney, Director of Services at Carlow County Council, has said that discussions with the National Transport Authority have taken place and "subject to funding and based on previous experience, it is expected that this service will be in place in the first half of 2019".
It comes after Carlow Live revealed last week that plans for the service in Carlow Town are now at "tender stage" with 90% of routes agreed.
Mr McInerney added that as any bus service will incorporate a large part of Graiguecullen, in the remit of Laois County Council, "we are also speaking with the engineering staff at Laois County Council to this end".
"At a recent meeting with the NTA, proposed routes were discussed and further consideration is required to provide extensive and economical coverage of the town," he said.
