"Eradicate sub-standard private accommodation," a councillor has told Carlow's local authority to take the lead on the issue.

Cllr Andrea Dalton said the health of some people in Carlow is people "detrimentally affected" by poor standards in private housing.

At this month's meeting of Carlow County Council, she called on the local auhtority to "eradicate sub-standard private accommodation" and the to take the lead on the issue.

The Council have a target this year of 450 inspections and they are "fairly confident" they'll meet that target even though the section for inspections was only resourced in June.
