The Coast Guard took part in the search on Wednesday and confirmed a vehicle was in the river
The Garda Sub-Aqua Unit arrived in Carlow on Thursday after a car entered the river at Ballytiglea bridge in Borris.
Emergency services were called out to the scene at Ballytiglea bridge on Wednesday evening but the search was called off due to conditions and the car being inaccessible.
The search resumed on Thursday morning to see of there was anybody in the vehicle.
