Carlow Roads Policing Unit performed a checkpoint on the N80 New Year's Eve when a driver failed a roadside breath test and was taken to Carlow Garda Station for a positive breath result.
A fixed charge penalty fine was issued and a mandatory disqualification applied.
Gardaí said: "Never drive whilst intoxicated."
