A tender for the fit out of the first of four new Fire Service support vehicles was awarded to HPMP Engineering in Tullow during December.
Funding of €140,000 was provided to Carlow Fire Services to replace four "aging support vehicles" throughout the county.
Works to install blue lights, sirens and sign writing consistent with a new operational fire service vehicle are due to commence in early January.
The remaining three Ford Ranger 4x4 vehicles are due to be delivered by Ford Ireland in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the county fire services attended 48 calls in the month of December, varying from fires to road traffic collisions and ambulance assists, figures for last month have revealed.
Carlow Fire Service had a relatively quiet Christmas period in terms of operational call outs.
The four Fire Stations attended a total of eleven incidents during the Christmas Period, December 24-31, with no serious incidents to report.
