Permission granted for 32 student accommodation units with 125 beds at Walshe's Yard

Conditional planning permission has been granted for the construction of 32 student accommodation units with 125 bed spaces at Walshe's Yard, Kennedy Avenue, Carlow. 

The applicant - Carlow Estates - say the development will consist of the demolition of a derelict cottage and the construction of a four storey building of 3,800 sq.m gross floorspace.

The development will include a reception, manager's office, common room/gym, laundry, service yard, plantroom, bikeshed and ESB Sub Station.

All site development works, landscaping, waste management facilities and all other ancillary accommodation are included in the permission. 

Carlow County Council made the decision to grant the application on February 1, with 30 conditions attached.
