Postal services in Ballon have returned for the first time in more than a decade as a new Post Office opened in Carlow on Monday.
An Post last year released a list of 159 Post Offices that would close, including two which will affect customers in Carlow.
Alongside the closures, An Post intended on opening five new Post Offices, and Ballon was chosen as the location for one of these.
It's understood the Carlow village meets the criteria of a population over 500 people as the area boasts a population of around 800.
There was a Post Office in Ballon a number of years ago but it closed.
