Today (December 5) is expected to be cloudy with scattered showers and some dry spells with highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees.
Tonight, scattered showers will continue mainly in Leinster and Munster, with mostly dry and clear conditions elsewhere.
It will be cold with a widespread frost, as temperatures drop to between -2 and +3 degrees.
An Arctic airmass will set in this week (valid until 11.30pm on Saturday December 10), bringing sharp to severe frosts and icy stretches on roads.
Showers of hail, sleet, and snow will occur during the second half of the week.
A small Craft warning from Belfast Lough to Dungarvan to Rossan Point is also in place, with easterly winds reaching force 6 or higher at times on Irish coasts.
The warning is in place from 5.13am this morning (Monday December 5) to tomorrow (Tuesday December 6) at midnight.
