In the final few days before the local elections some Candidates are taking to unusual measures to secure a seat in Carlow Council, one such candidate is People Before Profit Cllr Adrienne Wallace. Last Friday scores of families were treated to a free Ice Cream, courtesy of Mr. Whippy, while the local councillor spoke to supporters on the streets of Carlow.
Cllr Wallace said "there is no denying that this is a shameless gimmick, but at the same time I saw an opportunity for a bit of fun and lightheartedness and ran with it. The children and the workers on their lunch breaks were delighted with the free scoops and the weather behaved to some degree."
Cllr Wallace added "In all seriousness though, I have had great support over the last number of years and the feedback we're getting on the doors is very positive so it was nice to be able to give something small back to the people here. We were telling people on the day to have a taste of socialism with our free Ice Cream, it was nice to be able to have a laugh with people especially when things are so hard for so many."
