ELECTION LATEST: The final two seats in Tullow LEA have been decided in the Carlow Local Elections 2024

Brain O'Donoghue and Jim Deane take the final two seats in the Tullow LEA

The final two seats have been decided in the Tullow LEA and the Carlow County at the Carlow Local Elections 2024.

After 2 days of recounts and 4 full days of counting the Tullow Local Electoral Area has been decided.

The Tullow Local Electoral Area 13th count on Sunday evening read as follows:

Brian O'Donoghue - 895

Jim Deane - 893

Catherine Callaghan - 892

With only 3 votes separating the 3 candidates for the final two seats on the Carlow County Council, it was decided that it would go to recount on Monday.

Following the Monday the recount the voting looked like this: 

Brian O'Donoghue - 894

Jim Deane - 893

Catherine Callaghan - 892

Brian O'Donoghue lost 1 vote during the recount.

At that point there was still no elected candidates in the Tullow LEA and it was decided that it would go to a second recount on Tuesday.

Following the second recount of the Tullow LEA it was found that Brain lost one vote and gained one vote meaning the results did not change and the final two councillors that have been elected to the Carlow County Council were Jim Deane and Brian O'Donoghue.

And with that the Tullow LEA was set and reads as follows:

Ben Ward - Fine Gael

Will Paton - Non Party

John Pender - Fianna Fáil 

Charlie Murphy - Non Party

Brian O'Donoghue - Fine Gael 

Jim Deane - Sinn Féin
