Carlow Spelling Bee champion announced
Iris O’Gorman has been crowned the winner of this year's County Carlow Eason Spelling Bee.
Iris, who is a pupil at St Mary’s National School, soared to the top following a tense competition in which she faced 10 fellow spelling enthusiasts. Iris will now go on to compete in the Leinster Provincial Spelling Bee in May. Iris is an avid reader and is currently reading The Hate you Give by Angie Thomas.
As well as the prestigious title of Eason Spelling Bee 2023 Champion, the top Bee will also take home a collection of books for their school library, worth €7,500 as well as a personal collection of books worth €500.
This is the 10th year of the Spelling Bee competition.
