Alice Doyle (IFA website)

Alice Doyle, born to Tullow, Carlow has been elected as Deputy President of the Irish Farmers' Association (IFA), becoming the first woman to hold this position. Alice smashed the 'glass ceiling' becoming the first elected female Deputy President in the 68 years the farming association has been established.

Alice was running against Pat Murphy from Galway, winning with 16,502 votes to 12,968.

The Carlow native lives in Wexford where she farms alongside her husband. She will now be working with other members of the newly elected IFA to address issues facing farmers across Ireland.

Francie Gorman from County Laois has been elected as the new President of the IFA.
