Carlow County Council has welcomed the announcement of more than €800,000 in funding to complete four local projects under the Town & Village Renewal scheme.

The local authority says the monies will be used for planned projects in Tullow, St. Mullins, Clonegal and Carrigduff.
Commenting, Cathaoirleach of Carlow County Council, Cllr. Andrea Dalton, said: “This is fantastic news for the communities of these four towns and villages. This funding is about helping our towns and villages become more attractive places to live, work and do business. The staff in the Council’s Regeneration Department work closely with communities on these funding applications and it is hugely satisfying for everyone when applications are successful. The way forward is ensuring that local people and communities play an integral part in how their local area develops into the future.”

Approved projects
*A total of €365,940 will be used to support the rejuvenation of Tullow town through improvements to Riverfront Amenity Area, St Austin's Well and Biodiversity Garden, provision of Signage, Virtual Heritage Trail and a Paint Scheme.
*A total of €249,999 has been allocated for the the consolidation of an existing Town Centre Outdoor Recreational Activity Hub, at Carrigduff, Bunclody, through expansion and upgrade of existing activity play area with modern inclusive equipment and increased passive areas for social integration within the community.
*A total of €117,000 is to be used for village enhancements works at St Mullins, to include community park and parking enhancement, paint scheme, signage and public realm upgrade.
*A total of €99,216 has been allocated for a village enhancement project at Clonegal, to include paint scheme, signage, upgrade of Heritage Centre, public realm upgrades in village furniture and Wicklow Way Park.
