Popular Carlow business says it is 'impossible' to remain open amid closure announcement

A popular Carlow business has made the "tough decision" to close its doors after just a year in business in the town.

Moka Coffee and Wine Bar have announced on social media that it will close its doors due to increased expenses and high running costs.

In the post on Facebook, it said "This week marks one year since we opened the doors to our new home - a milestone that should be a time of celebration. But instead, it comes with some difficult news."

Moka Coffee and Wine Bar says it is "impossible" to remain open in a sustainable way.

It has thanked all of those who have supported the business over the past year saying those customers have been the "heart of  Moka."

Many people took to the comment section to express their sadness at the announcement, stating that the Coffee and Wine Bar was among their favourite places to visit in Carlow.

"You created a warm space that meant a lot to people. Sincere sympathy to all the staff and everyone involved. You will be missed," one person said.

It's not been announced when Moka will open for the final time.
