'A lovely impression': Carlow locals praise recent work on roundabout in town

Locals have taken to social media to praise a new upgrade to a roundabout in Carlow town.

Deerpark roundabout has seen the installation of a number of deer statues. 

The works were completed this week and shared on social media by Carlow County Council. 

The post was shared by the Facebook page 'All About Carlow' where people quickly jumped to the comments to share their praise. 

"Pieces of public art like this are a small lift that brighten the place and add a bit of pride. They have that same standout quality you see in Kildare," it read.

"It looks great, a lovely impression as you come into Carlow town. Well done Carlow county council and all the lads who were working on it recently," one person commented.

"Absolutely beautiful, so apt for the Deerpark roundabout," "My favourite out of all the roundabouts done," and "Fantastic work," are just a few of the other comments left.

Others were not as impressed, stating that the Council should use its money to support small businesses and fix "pothole lined roads." 

The post also called for the comeback of the "real icons." 

"While we’re at it, can we talk about the two AIB dolphins. They absolutely need to make a comeback and get their own water feature. If we are adding character to the place, we may as well bring back the real icons," it said.
