Almost €1 million granted to schools across Carlow for upgrading and improvement works
Schools across Carlow are set to receive almost €1 million in funding from the government for upgrading works to be carried out.
It has been allocated under two sections: the first being the 'Minor Works Grant' and the other being an 'ICT' grant.
An ICT grant provides funding for schools to upgrade their information and communications technology.
In Carlow, €400,000 has been allocated for Minor Works Grants while a €300,000 ICT grant has been allocated for primary schools in the county and €200,000 for secondary schools.

"These are very significant sums for both counties. The Minor Works funding will allow schools to address essential maintenance, health and safety issues, and small-scale improvements, while the ICT funding will support modern teaching and learning, digital literacy and the rollout of technology in classrooms," Deputy John McGuinness said, welcoming the news.
Minister for Education and Youth, Hildegarde Naughton, announced that a €65 million national package will be delivered.
Schools will receive the Minor Works Grant funding by the end of this month and the ICT Grant funding will be issued in January 2026.
"This is a very positive and practical investment in our schools, one that will make a real difference on the ground. I particularly welcome the certainty now being provided around the timing of these grants, which has been a long-standing issue for school principals and boards of management," Deputy McGuinness concluded.
