Gardaí rush to scene as car crashes through pub outdoor seating area in Donegal

One woman has been seriously injured after a car crashed into an outdoor seating area at a pub in Co Donegal.

Gardaí and emergency services rushed to the scene of the serious crash in Donegal Town at 7.50pm on Wednesday evening as people enjoyed a drink in the beautiful weather.

The horror moment occurred when a car collided with the outdoor seating area of a licensed premises on Tirchonaill Street in the town.

Gardaí have confirmed that one woman aged in her 60s was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

It is understood that the car accidentally reversed into the area in which the woman was sitting.

Gardaí say another woman in her 60s and a man were also taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward to them.

"Anyone who was travelling in in the area of Tirchonaill Street, Donegal Town, between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, and has video camera footage (including dash-cam) from this area at this time, is asked to make it available to Gardaí," a statement read.
