A major safety issue has been identified in a faulty IKEA mirror sold to over 13,000 Irish people.
According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), certain IKEA LETTAN mirrors present a risk of injury due to incorrect material used in the manufacturing of some wall fittings.
The fittings that attach the product to the wall could break, leading to possible head injuries, cuts or lacerations of anyone present when the mirror falls.
The affected mirror has date stamps before and including 2105 (the date stamp is located at the back of the mirror).
The safety alert was originally issued on January 19, 2023 and was then extended on September 13, 2023 to include supplier number 21944, and date stamps before and including 2325.
The affected product was available for purchase from February 2021, leading to 13,158 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
Customers should stop using the product immediately and contact IKEA to order the replacement wall fittings free of charge.
Proof of purchase is not required.
To order the replacement wall fittings free of charge, to obtain the mirror fitting replacement instructions, for affected article numbers or for further information regarding this recall, please visit the IKEA web site here or call IKEA Customer Services on 01 541 3302.
