An elderly man has been arrested following the seizure of firearms and ammunition in Dublin.
According to Gardaí, the seizure was made as part of searches in the Saggart area of Dublin 24 yesterday afternoon (Sunday October 22).
Gardaí attached to the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) carried out the search and seized a handgun along with a quantity of ammunition.
The firearm will now be sent on to the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau to undergo analysis.
A man in his 70s was arrested at the scene and has since been released from Garda custody.
A file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Investigations ongoing.
