The late Shane MacGowan
Shane MacGowan's wife has posted a heartfelt tribute to the Pogues star, hoping his smile can still help those struggling or in pain.
The legendary singer/songwriter died last week and is due to be buried in his native Tipperary on Friday.
Victoria Mary Clarke said her husband Shane was "always able to smile right until the last" and she hoped by sharing a post of him, it could still "work its magic".
The recent diagnosis that Shane was nearing the end of his life had shocked Victoria and his family and friends.
He was released from hospital and died shortly afterwards, surrounded by his family.
Shane was always able to smile right until the last and his smile had a way of lightning up everyone around him no matter how much he was struggling or in pain. I hope this smile can still work it’s magic ❤️@poguesofficial @ShaneMacGowan pic.twitter.com/8S7agqtw8I

Noting that many people have recently lost love ones all around the world, Victoria Mary said her prayers were with everyone, "as Shane's would be".
It’s so hard to believe that someone could be so vibrant and beautiful and so determined to live only a few days ago. But so many people are losing loved ones all over the world. My prayers are for all of you guys as Shane’s would be ❤️ pic.twitter.com/rVRDFtnlm8
