RTÉ Board never signed off on Toy Show Musical that lost €2.2m
A report into the now infamous Toy Show The Musical has found there was never any written approval for the show to go ahead.
The report by Grant Thornton has found the RTÉ Board gave no written approval for the show that amassed losses of €2.2 million, which implies a total lack of governance overseeing the venture that took place in Dublin's Convention Centre in 2022.
The report that is due to be published "as soon as possible", will also reveal that the RTÉ Board was never officially asked for a decision to proceed with the musical.
A spokesperson for Grant Thornton said:
"The Grant Thornton report into Toy Show the Musical, commissioned by the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) of the RTÉ Board, is now complete.
"The report has been furnished to the ARC and the RTÉ Board, and also subsequently to the minister. The report will be published as soon as possible".
Minister for Media Catherine Martin has said she has received the report but will not comment until it is officially published, which is expected in the coming days.
