ALERT: Urgent recall issued for popular hair styling product due to 'electric shock' risk

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued an urgent recall for a popular hair styling product sold by two major Irish retailers over 'electric shock' fears.

The Cortex Beauty Hair Curler has been pulled from shelves in TK Maxx and Homesense stores across Ireland due to "poor internal build quality" and "inadequate insulation" leading to the risk of electric shock.

The brand is Cortex. The model number is AT08. The product code shown on the price sticker and receipt will be either 066297, 066314, 066358 or 066331. The batch number and the barcode are unknown.

There are approximately 72 affected products in the Republic of Ireland which were sold in stores between September and November 2023.

Customers are advised to stop using the product immediately and return it to any TK Maxx or Homesense store for a full refund.
