A €1M winning Lotto ticket was bought in a store in Limerick, the National Lottery revealed this Tuesday evening.

The lucky person purchased the Lotto Plus 1 Quick Pick ticket in Oola on the day of the draw - Saturday, March 9.

Shop owner Tom O’Halloran was delighted to hear that one of his customers won big over the weekend.

“It’s sure to be a day of excitement here in Oola with the big announcement. I think we are all eager for a bit of good news to be honest so this really is perfect timing.

“We have no idea who the winner could even be but it would be great if it was someone local. Imagine, a big tax-free win of €1 million!” said Mr O'Halloran.

He added: “You know what they say – it doesn’t cost a thing to dream and for one of our customers the dream of becoming a big Lotto winner has now become reality.

“The winner will have lots of options for what they can do but the big thing for now is that we hope they check their ticket soon and really enjoy their big news.”

The National Lottery is continuing to urge players to check their tickets carefully from the March 9 draw as one player has a ticket worth a life-changing sum.

The Lotto Plus 1 winner is advised to sign the back of their ticket and keep it safe. Ireland’s newest millionaire should make contact with the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to claim their life-altering prize..

Meanwhile, Wednesday’s Lotto jackpot is set to roll towards an estimated €4.5 million. Lotto players dreaming of joining the list of high winners for the year to date are reminded that tickets can be purchased in-store nationwide, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7.45pm cut-off time for sales.
