Garda investigation launched after the discovery of a body

Gardaí in Monaghan have urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward

Gardai have launched an investigation into the death of a man in Co Monaghan, after the discovery of a body. 

Gardaí in Monaghan are currently at the scene where the body of a man was discovered in Dunsinare, Monaghan Town, earlier this morning, Wednesday 13th March 2024.

Gardaí were alerted to the body at approximately 7.50am.

"The man’s body remains at the scene, and will be removed for post-mortem examination in due course, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation. The scene is currently preserved for technical examination," a garda spokesperson said. 

Investigations are ongoing, it was confirmed.

"Anyone with information in relation to this incident is asked to contact Monaghan Garda Station on 047 77200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station," the garda spokesperson said.
