The efforts of hundreds of volunteers in a local community which brought a search and rescue operation to a successful conclusion during Storm Kathleen have been praised by gardaí.
The gratitude was expressed to the Kilworth community in Cork from An Garda Síochána in Fermoy District after many people pitched in to bring about a successful outcome for search and rescue operation during difficult weather conditions on Saturday and Sunday.
Hundreds of volunteers assisted AGS, Irish Defence Forces, Irish Search Dogs, Munster Lowland Search Dogs, Mallow Search & Rescue, Blackwater Search & Rescue and the National Ambulance Service in challenging conditions. Hot food and drinks were provided at HQ, which was kindly hosted by Scoil Mháirtín, and greatly appreciated.
"Your cooperation and dedication played an integral role in ensuring the success of the operation," gardaí outlined in a social media post.
"It is truly inspiring to witness a community come together with such solidarity and compassion. Your willingness to lend a helping hand, provide valuable information, and offer support to the team of responders exemplifies the strength and resilience of the Kilworth community.
"We are truly grateful for your partnership and look forward to continuing to work together to ensure the safety and security of our community," the garda post outlined.
