Scattered sunshine and showers forecast, but summer heat is fast approaching

It will be a cold, dry and bright start to the morning, but make the most of it as cloud and showers will push in from West later this morning for afternoon and evening.

Widespread sunshine will develop throughout the morning as mist and fog clears, though showers could turn heavy during the day.

Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees are expected, dropping to lows of 4 to 7 degrees overnight. Met Éireann forecasts a cloudy night with some outbreaks of rain that will spread northeastwards and continue into tomorrow morning.

Next week could potentially see temperatures reaching 16 degrees, and Met Éireann is predicting a dry Friday and weekend for a solid Summer start to the month of May.
