The nearby area was cordoned by Gardaí, and investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí investigating after man found seriously injured in Dublin city centre

A man in his 40s is being treated in hospital after being found injured in Dublin city centre late last night.

Gardai in nearby Pearse Street station were alerted to incident on Fleet Street after the man was found there at approximately 10.30pm.

The man was taken by ambulance to St. James's Hospital for treatment after Gardaí attended the scene. The nearby area was cordoned off on Tuesday morning by Garda tape. 

Gardaí did not disclose details of what happened at the scene, but it is suspected that the man was injured in an assault.

The scene has been preserved and investigations are ongoing.
