Gardaí are investigating the crash which claimed the life of Molly Dempsey, on right.
Tributes are being paid to 15-year-old Molly Dempsey who died following a car crash in Wicklow at the weekend, the third tragedy to hit her respected family.
The teenage girl died after the car in which she was a passenger crashed near Slaney Park in Baltinglass, Co Wicklow, at around 5am on Sunday.
Gardai confirmed that the driver of the car, a male youth in his teens, was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act and detained at a Garda Station in Wicklow.
He has since been released from custody. Investigations are ongoing and a garda spokesperson confirmed that a file will be prepared for the DPP.
Molly’s death is the latest tragedy to hit the Dempsey family after Molly's older brother Roy died in September 2007 when he was just 13 years of age.
In 2016, the Dempsey family suffered further heartbreak when another sibling, Killian, died suddenly, aged just 16.
Tributes were paid to Molly by her friends after news of her death broke in the local area, with one describing her as a “beautiful angel”.
She was described by friends as “the most loving, caring and kind-hearted person”.
“Such sad news this morning in Baltinglass. Heartbroken for all the Dempsey family. Rest in peace, Molly, you will always be remembered. Watch over all your family at this heartbreaking time,” a friend wrote in a tribute.
"Thinking of you all - such a beautiful young lady gone way too soon," another wrote.
“Rest in peace, little Molly, taken way too soon, heaven has gained another beautiful angel,” another tribute read.
“The saddest news ever to wake up to... a young local girl’s life taken,” before urging people to “please be careful on the roads, we never know what’s around the next bend… my sincere condolences to the Dempsey family. RIP Molly,” another person wrote.
Funeral details for the teenage girl have yet to be confirmed.
