A woman in her 80s received medical treatment following the incident
Gardai investigating an incident in a busy tourist town during which an elderly tourist was robbed have arrested a man.
Shortly after 830pm on April 22, the woman, aged in her 80s, was approached by a lone male at Port Road, Killarney, Co. Kerry.
The culprit robbed the woman's handbag and she required medical treatment following the incident for non life-threatening injuries.
In an update, issued this Thursday afternoon, gardai confirmed an arrest has been made.
"A search operation took place this morning, Thursday, May 9 in Killarney and a man, aged in his 20s, was arrested in relation to the robbery and assault. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in the Kerry Division," said a spokesperson.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
