A teenage boy has died after getting into difficulty in a Co Kildare canal over the weekend.
Gardai said they became aware of someone who had got into difficulty in the water in the Grand Canal between Ardclough and Celbridge, at about 5.40pm on Saturday.
A number of emergency services attended the scene and the body of a boy in his teens was recovered from the water a short time later.
The coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be carried out, Gardai said.
