Last Sunday, May 19, as a result of an intelligence-led operation and with the assistance of detector dog Milo, Revenue officers seized 4,715 kgs of rolling tobacco with an estimated value of €3,888,000 at Dublin Port.

The illicit tobacco, branded ‘Flandria’, was discovered in a consignment within a trailer which had arrived from Zeebrugge, Belgium and represents a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €2,919,000.

A spokesperson confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

This seizure is part of Revenue's ongoing operations targeting the supply and sale of illegal cigarettes and tobacco in the shadow economy.
