Gardaí investigating a violent incident in County Clare earlier this week have arrested four men.
The arrests relate to an incident at Watery Road in Ennis shortly after 3pm on Monday.
"At approximately 3.10pm, gardaí received a report of a vehicle being rammed and a group of males with weapons being involved in an altercation. Gardaí attended the scene and an investigation commenced. No serious injuries were reported," said a spokesperson, this Friday morning.
As part of the investigation, a search and arrest operation was conducted in Ennis on Thursday with the assistance of the Garda Armed Support Unit.
According to gardai, a number of items of evidential value were seized during the operation.
"Four men were also arrested and detained at garda stations in Clare under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984," confirmed a spokesperson.
Two of the men, aged in their late teens and 20s, have since been charged and are expected to appear before Ennis District Court later this Friday.
The other two men, aged in their 20s and 50s, are still being detained.
Gardai say investigations into Monday's incident are ongoing.
