Gardaí at Pearse Street are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault on Mercer Street in Dublin on Tuesday.
A man in his 20s was seriously injured during an incident in the Mercer Street area shortly after 2:20pm.
The Irish Sun reported that the man was attacked by two men, and that the victim had just gone into a shop when his two attackers pounced, armed with a machete.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene, and the male was subsequently taken to St. James's Hospital. His injuries are described as serious but non-life-threatening.
While no arrests have been made to date, Gardaí are following definite lines of enquiry, and investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí are seeking any witnesses to this assault to come forward. Additionally, they are asking anyone who was in the Mercer Street area at the time of the incident to contact them.
