A fundraiser has been set up to help bring a Kilkenny man back home after he "collapsed on holiday in Spain."
The family have already surpassed their goal and have raised over €18k for the cause.
Posting the fundraiser to GoFundMe on behalf of the family, daughter-in-law Jenny Wall to Michael said:
"We are sharing the story of Michael, who recently experienced a sudden and severe medical emergency. Michael has always been the type of person who puts others before himself, and now, he needs our help.
"On Monday, June 3, while on holiday, Michael collapsed with a massive heart attack and then suffered a brain stroke
he is now in intensive care and on life support at Dr Jose Molina Orosa Hospital in Lanzarote, Spain where the Doctors have diagnosed him with a life threatening condition. While it is early stages, we are holding out hope for Michael."
Originally hoping to raise €5k, the familly have now raised over €18k with a new goal of €25k.
"We as a family are very worried at this time and we are grateful to everyone who takes the time out of there day to read and share Michael’s story and to ask for financial support while Michael is fighting bravely to recover. Michael’s immediate family who have to be by his side are under immense financial strain so, We have created this GoFundMe campaign to rally around Michael in his time of need. Our goal is to raise €5,000 to help support Michael and his family at this very difficult time.
"Even if you cannot contribute financially, you can still help Michael by sharing this campaign with your network. Spreading the word will increase our chances of reaching the goal and getting Michael and his family the support they desperately need.
"Thank you for taking the time to read Michael’s story. Your support means the world to us."
