Gardaí have arrested two people as part in relation to incidents of dangerous driving, criminal damage and assault that occurred on Main Street in Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare on Wednesday evening.
A number of vehicles were damaged during the course of the incident as well as external damage to a building, which happened at approximately 8.45pm.
Two males and one female were assaulted. Their injuries are understood to be non-life threatening.
Gardaí arrested a male (aged in his 20s) and a female juvenile (aged in her teens) today (Friday). They are both currently detained at a Garda station in County Kildare.
Videos have circulated online of the couple smashing up a car, with one video showing the couple in the main square hitting a silver car with weapons which appears to have its back window smashed.
In footage posted online, an adult can be told telling a frightened child to "Close your eyes, close your eyes.” "I’m not looking, are you?” the scared juvenile replies.
A second video taken from a different angle shows a man approaching the silver car which appears to be stopped in front of a second car in the middle of the village.
A man then emerges from it, armed with an implement and appears to confront the approaching man along with the woman.
Many replies to the video regarded the incident as "shocking", while one regarded that it was "terrible to see them smash up the place".
Gardaí confirmed in a statement that investigations are ongoing.
