Taoiseach Simon Harris has offered his congratulations to UK Labour leader, Keir Starmer, after a landslide election result.
Labour has wiped out the Tories in the UK general election in what is a clear and decisive victory, with the Conservatives receiving their worst ever election result.
According to the Guardian, Labour have gained 213 seats for a whopping 410 majority, while the Conservatives suffered shocking losses with 247 seats gone and just 118 in total.
In a statement, the Taoiseach said, "Keir Starmer has brought the Labour Party a comprehensive victory. I congratulate him and his candidates and I look forward to working together as close neighbours and friends.
"The relationship between Ireland and the UK is deeply consequential for all people across these islands. Keir Starmer and I share a desire for it to go from strength to strength in the years ahead.
"I look forward to early engagement with the incoming Prime Minister, and to a mutually beneficial and productive relationship between us.
"Comhghairdeas mór leis."
The Liberal Democrats also did extremely well in the election with 61 extra seats, bringing their current seat count to 69, while the DUP lost three seats.
Sinn Féin had a very slight bump of 0.2% and retained seven seats, making them the party with the most MPs in Northern Ireland.
