A woman is being treated in hospital for serious injuries after she was attacked by two dogs, including a bulldog.
Emergency services rushed to a residence in Dún Laoghaire in Dublin, at around 1 pm yesterday afternoon after being alerted to the incident.
The woman is now being treated in St Vincent's Hospital.
According to one local, a neighbour heard the screams coming from her apartment and went to help but unfortunately to no avail," he said.
Paramedics were reportedly unable to help the woman on arrival, due to the presence of the dogs.
Gardaí, including members of the Armed Support Unit, were also dispatched to the property in the event the dogs would need to be immediately put down.
The incident happened at around midday, and it was roughly an hour before the woman was able to be taken to hospital via ambulance.
A local Dog Warden has taken control of the dogs.
None of the dogs involved in the attack are on the restricted breeds list.
The Irish Daily Mail reported that the victim had received puncture wounds to her arms, but no facial injuries. The woman is now in a stable condition.
Gardaí are also attempting to find the registered owner of the dogs. It’s understood the animals were being taken care of by a person known to the woman.
Concerns have been raised about the number of serious dog attacks around the country in recent months including one fatal incident.
On the night of June 3, Nicole Morey was killed after two dogs attacked her at her home in Ballyneety, Limerick. The young woman had earlier been celebrating her 23rd birthday and had just returned home when the incident occurred.
One of the dogs involved, an XL Bully, was shot dead at the scene by armed gardaí while three other dogs that were at the property were later destroyed.
