A man and woman are due to appear in court today following the discovery of a growhouse in county Monaghan this Tuesday.

The man and woman, both aged in their 30s, were arrested following the seizure of cannabis plants and herb with an estimated street value of €88,000 in Castleblayney on Tuesday, 17th September, 2024, and were both subsequently charged.

During the course of the search of a residence under warrant in Castleblayney, a growhouse was discovered containing 50 cannabis plants, with a street value of €42,000, as well as €46,000 worth of dried cannabis herb and €1,000 worth of MDMA (all subject to analysis), a garda spokesperson said.

The operation was carried out by local gardaí, assisted by the members from Community Engagement Monaghan, Crime Unit Monaghan and Divisional Drugs Unit.

The pair are due to appear before Cavan District Court this morning (Thursday, 19th September) at 10:30am.
