'Extremely barbaric' - Horrifying scene as horse found dead and dismembered in South Dublin
The Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA) have issued a distressing update regarding the discovery of the disfigured body of a horse in South County Dublin.
In a Facebook post, the DSPCA have described the condition of the body as "one of the most distressing and upsetting calls our inspectors have had to deal with."
On October 17, DSPCA inspectors responded to a call they received about a horse that had been dumped in a wooded area in South County Dublin.
On arrival, inspectors noticed two skip bags, one large and one small. In the large skip bag was the partial remains of a dead horse. On inspection its four legs had intentionally been removed.
The horse's legs were said to be found in the smaller adjacent skip bag. The DSPCA said: "To place the horse in the area where it was found a vehicle of some sort (possibly a grab truck) would have been required due to the weight and size of the body.
"Our inspectors are looking for any information from the public regarding a grab type van/truck in the area over the last few days. The horse is microchipped."
The DSPCA concluded: "This is one of the most distressing and upsetting calls our inspectors have had to deal with. We cannot share the full set of images of this horrific scene as they are extremely barbaric. The manner in which this poor horse was left shows a total lack of respect and empathy for life."
If you have any information at all that would support the DSPCA's enquiries email inspectors@dspca.ie. The DSPCA have said that all information will be treated with "complete confidentiality."
