Going to the chapel! Gardaí to the rescue of stranded florist on way to wedding

Two gardaí came to the rescue of a "frazzled" florist whose van had broken down on the way to a wedding in Kildare on Bank Holiday Monday morning.

The official An Garda Síochána Facebook page posted the story to their followers and revealed that their two members were only too happy to help.

"Garda Carton and Garda O’Dowd were out in the van on patrol around Dún Laoghaire just after 8am when they spotted a woman waving to grab their attention," the statement read.

"When they pulled up she seemed frazzled. 'Well. You’re up and out early of a bank holiday Monday! All okay?'", says the two Gardaí.

"'No, Roisín explained."

She is a florist and was en route to Lady Chapel in Maynooth, Co Kildare to set up for a wedding with the fresh flowers that had arrived in overnight for today’s nuptials all onboard in the van that she had hired," the Garda statement continued.

"All was looking rosy only for hadn’t the van broken down."

"Road side assistance would mean she wouldn’t get there anywhere near close to on time and they didn’t have a replacement van available for quite a while either so Garda Carton and Garda O’Dowd stepped into gear.

"Love knows no bounds.

"They got all the flowers in buckets into the Garda van and got to Lady Chapel in the nick of time. Crisis averted!

"We hope that Lara and Seamus have a beautiful day today and we wish them a very happy marriage in the years ahead.
The timing for the bouquet toss is still up in the air," the statement concluded.
