CANCELLED! Bus Eireann services significantly impacted as Storm Darragh approaches

A number of severe weather warnings have been issued by Met Eireann

Bus Éireann has cancelled dozens of Expressway and some local services following the issuing of a number of severe and extreme weather warnings by Met Eireann.

As Storm Darragh hurtles towards Ireland, status red wind warnings have been issued for SIX counties in the west and north west while status orange wind warnings will come into effect this Friday night for EVERY county.

Confirming the cancellation over 60 services, a spokesperson for Bus Éireann said the decision was made "following an assessment of the available information from Met Éireann and the likely impact of the Storm".

The transport company says a large number of services across Expressway intercity, commuter and city services, scheduled to operate between these times, have been cancelled.

"Bus Éireann advises all intending passengers to check the ‘Service Updates’ section of our website before travelling. Bus Éireann will continue to monitor weather advisories as well as road conditions in the coming days and any service disruptions will be posted on our website.

"The safety of our passengers and staff is of paramount importance to Bus Éireann and we would encourage all customers to plan their journeys in advance, allowing extra time for their journey, during this period of adverse weather."

The National Directorate for Fire & Emergency Management is appealing to members of the public to not travel in areas where a red level warning is in place and to shelter in place during these times.
