Mirjana Pap, 58, was last seen in Athlone in the early hours of Saturday morning
The search for a woman who was reported missing in County Westmeath at the weekend has been stood down, following the discovery of a body.
Gardai had issued a public appeal for assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 58-year-old Mirjana Pap, who was last seen in the Athlone area in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Serious concerns were expressed for her well-being at the time and in an update, issued this Monday evening, gardai confirmed the search has now been stood down.
"Following the discovery of a woman’s body earlier this afternoon, Monday, December 30 2024 the missing person appeal in respect of Mirjana Pap has been stood down," said a spokesperson.
It's understood the body was discovered at farmland near Clonark in County Roscommon.

No further information has been confirmed or disclosed publicly by gardai who have thanked members of the public and the media for their assistance with the missing person appeal.
