Gardaí responded to an incident at a residence in Wexford on New Year's Eve where a man aged in his 60s was found dead.

UPDATE: Second man arrested in connection with death of man in Wexford

Gardaí say that a second man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in New Ross, County Wexford on Tuesday, 31 December.

On Tuesday morning, Gardaí and emergency services responded to an incident at a residence in Cluain Fada, New Ross, where a man aged in his 60s was found unresponsive. The man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

A man, aged in his 30s, was arrested in connection with the incident a short while later at a nearby location. The man is currently still being detained at a Garda station in the Eastern Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Another man, also aged in his 30s, was arrested on Tuesday evening and is also being detained.

Gardaí say that the Office of the State Pathologist and local Coroner have been notified and a post-mortem examination is due to take place on Wednesday morning.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them and are seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, from those who were in the vicinity of Cluain Fada, New Ross at the time of the incident.

Gardaí say that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
